Chelsea ‘very attentive’ to Saul Niguez who can leave Atletico Madrid this summer

Saul Niguez’s Atletico stint

Saul joined Atletico in 2008, after departing Real Madrid’s youth ranks.

And, barring a loan stint with Rayo Vallecano, he has since spent his entire senior career at the Wanda Metropolitano.

All told, Saul has featured 337 times across all competitions for Atletico, in which the Spaniard has scored 43 goals and provided 19 assists.

The 26-year-old is a central midfielder by trade, but can also be used on the left of a flat midfield four, as he did on a number of occasions during the 2020/21 campaign which saw Atletico pip FC Barcelona and Real Madrid to the La Liga title.

Saul Niguez can leave Atletico Madrid

Despite being a key cog in Atletico’s title-winning side, however, it appears the Spaniards are willing to part ways with the midfielder.

Back in April it was claimed that Manchester United had sent scouts to watch Saul, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer thought to be weighing up an offer:

Now, a report from Italian journalist Matteo Moretto, who works for Sky and Gianluca Di Marzio, is reporting that Saul can leave Atletico Madrid this summer.

In terms of sides showing interest in the Spanish international, Moretto reports that PSG and Chelsea are attentive to Saul but nothing is advanced yet. German powerhouse Bayern Munich are also said to be showing some interest:
