Dolphins NFL Draft rumors: Miami reportedly considering trade of No. 6 pick

Miami thrice.

Miami and San Francisco struck a deal in late March that sent the No. 3 pick to the Niners and the No. 12 pick and two future first-rounders to the Dolphins. Miami wouldn’t stop there, trading the No. 12 pick to the Eagles for the No. 6 pick, sending a future first-round pick Philly’s way.

Now, Miami is reportedly considering trading out of the No. 6 spot, with teams looking to trade up to the Dolphins’ first pick of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Teams looking to trade up are either eyeing one of the draft’s big offensive weapons — DeVonta Smith, Kyle Pitts or Ja’Marr Chase — or putting themselves in position for the fifth, and last, first-round quarterback available.

Miami’s draft strategy is pretty confusing: The Phins traded down, picking up two future first-rounders from the 49ers, then gave another one away to move up to No. 6.

While a QB-needy team could put themselves in position for a passer at No. 6, there’s also no guarantee that any of the top passers — Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Justin Fields, Trey Lance, Mac Jones — will be available at that spot. One of the top wideouts will more than likely be.

In any case, Miami just cemented its status as one of the NFL Draft’s biggest mysteries heading into April 29.
