Not all the American horses that raced at Royal Ascot last week are immediately returning to America. Trainer Brendan Walsh said June 22 that DARRS’ millionaire Extravagant Kid is pointed toward the Darley July Cup (G1) at Newmarket July 10.
His participation in the July Cup, reported by Daily Racing Form June 21, comes over a straightaway race at six furlongs over Newmarket’s July Course.
An 8-year-old gelding by Kiss The Kid , Extravagant Kid finished third at Ascot in the five-furlong King’s Stand Stakes (G1) June 15. Away a beat slowly, he rallied from midpack, finishing two lengths behind victorious Oxted . He was a neck behind runner-up Arecibo and a half-length ahead of favored Battaash in fourth.

His King’s Stand third followed a victory in the Al Quoz Sprint Sponsored By Azizi Developments (G1) at Meydan in March.
“You’re running against the best sprinters in the world there. It was probably a better race than the race in Dubai as far as depth is concerned, a deeper spot, I think,” said Walsh. “But he ran really well and didn’t let us down, like normal. We’re proud of him.”
