Meteorology Instructor, Department of Earth Sciences
The Department of Earth Sciences at the University of South Alabama invites applications for a nine-month, non-tenure track meteorology Instructor position, starting January 1, 2022. We seek a broadly trained meteorologist/atmospheric scientist to teach Introduction to Meteorology and its lab, General Meteorology and its lab, other lower- and upper-level electives and required courses as needed, and to assist with the capstone sequence in Synoptic Meteorology. Additional duties include academic advising of undergraduate students, and faculty advising of student activities such as American Meteorological Society/National Weather Association student chapters. Minimum qualifications: M.S. degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science at the time of appointment. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated success in the classroom, coursework in synoptic/mesoscale meteorology, weather analysis and forecasting, and severe storms meteorology, and potential to recruit undergraduate meteorology majors and contribute to the growth of the department, college, and university.

The Department of Earth Sciences consists of 17 full-time faculty and staff members and approximately 150 undergraduate majors in the disciplines of Geology (B.S.), Geography (B.S.), and Meteorology (B.S.). The department also offers a certificate/minor in Geographic Information Systems.
